Hundreds of years of abuse and virtual slavery, placed a second class citizen. Who wouldn't blame any person who had to suffer this at the hands of men for having a bit of animosity towards them? Nobody would but the problem as i see it is that i personally was not one of those men, infact any male of a certain age could clame so. Secondly females of a certain age cannot all claim to have witnessed this past or lived through it.
This brings me to 'Why do i feel sexual injustice as a man in the year 2008?' Lets view a few points.
Sexualisation of females is generally frowned upon in society e.g. prostitution, pornography, adverts, yet nobody speaks of those examples in male terms, why? Is it ok for men to sell themselves sexually, maybe they'd like that? maybe the young male selling himself to older males in the local park chose that life? And if pornography degrades women does it not also degrade the man in the pornography?
Violence, domestic or otherwise seems to appear daily on TV and radio as we drink our morning coffee, but violence towards women and children does seem to be a genuine problem in our homes. A man generally is the stronger and as such can cause serious hurt or death during a fight and this is rightly taken into account in the courts in domestic charges. There is a growing rise of violence towards men but the true picture is distorted somewhat like male rape i.e. it happens but we just won't report it!
Where i see an issue is the 'Bobbit' type case where gruesome or fatal injuries are commited and an excuse of 'fear' are submitted and sometimes accepted. Reverse the gender in these cases shows and society seem unwilling to accept 'not guilty' why? Maybe 'He's a big boy he shouldn't be in 'fear' '. Does this send a message to men that we should accept a certain degree of aggression towards them without complaint.
There are im sure various other issues or counter arguments so please BURN!
